From a two-person operation founded in 2006 by a former Royal Navy power generation engineer, Astute People has grown into an international recruitment partner built on technical understanding, long-term partnerships and specialist expertise. Our identity evolved from Astute Technical Recruitment to Astute People in 2023, but our commitment to quality, collaboration and trust — and our support for employers and candidates across Power Generation, Renewable Energy, Nuclear and Data Centres — has remained consistent throughout.
Our brand has grown from a specialist technical recruitment business into Astute People — an international recruitment partner supporting employers and candidates across energy, infrastructure and mission-critical sectors.

The beginning
Astute was founded with technical understanding, sector knowledge and a belief that recruitment should create better outcomes for employers and candidates.
Astute Technical Recruitment Ltd was founded in 2006 by Terry Buckel, a former Royal Navy Power Generation Engineering Manager. His technical background shaped Astute’s consultative approach to recruitment from the beginning.
