Ruth Winter is the Team Leader in Operations, Maintenance and Servicing at Astute People, specialising in recruitment for CCGT, Gasification, Energy from Waste (EfW), Biomass, and CHP plants. With hands-on industry experience, Ruth combines technical expertise with talent acquisition insight to deliver tailored recruitment solutions across the power generation sector.
Having previously worked within power station operations herself, Ruth brings genuine industry understanding to every recruitment conversation, helping clients identify the right technical professionals and supporting candidates throughout their career journey.
Specialist in Power Operations & Maintenance Recruitment
Ruth and her team focus on sourcing high-calibre talent for permanent Operations & Maintenance (O&M) roles across the Power Generation sector, including Service Technicians, Shift Operators, Plant Managers, and HV Engineers.
She works closely with clients across Energy from Waste, Biomass, CHP, CCGT, and wider thermal generation facilities to ensure recruitment aligns with operational requirements, site challenges, and long-term business objectives.
Her practical understanding of power station environments allows her to understand the skills, experience, and behaviours required for professionals to succeed in demanding operational roles.

Career at Astute People
Ruth joined Astute People after first connecting with the business as a candidate. Her previous experience as an Assistant Shift Team Leader at a 32MW Biomass CHP plant, combined with an HNC in Process Engineering from Teesside University, gives her a unique understanding of the technical and operational challenges faced by employers and engineering professionals.
This industry experience allows Ruth to provide informed recruitment advice and identify professionals who have the right technical background to succeed within operational environments.
