Terry Buckel is the Founder & CEO of Astute People, having established the business from the ground up in August 2006. With a background in engineering and more than 20 years of experience in technical recruitment and business leadership, Terry has shaped Astute into a specialist recruitment partner supporting organisations across the Power Generation, Renewables and Nuclear sectors.

Terry began his career as a Royal Navy Engineer specialising in Marine Engineering, including working on submarines and managing a small-scale “power station.” Driven by a desire for new challenges, he transitioned into recruitment, combining his technical expertise with a sales-focused approach.

His engineering background continues to influence Astute’s approach to technical recruitment, with the business providing specialist talent solutions across permanent, contract and project requirements. Terry epitomises a ‘work hard, play hard’ ethos. A passionate petrolhead, he enjoys track days and aspires to compete in the 24-hour Nürburgring race. He dreams of road-tripping past the Grand Canyon in a ’67 Mustang, climbing to Everest Base Camp, and owning a villa in Ibiza.
