Astute People’s latest charity fundraising energy sector campaign has raised £10,000 for Young Lives vs Cancer through a series of high-impact fundraising challenges.
The initiative highlights the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and community impact within the UK energy sector.
Portsmouth-based energy recruitment agency Astute People has successfully reached its £10,000 fundraising target in support of Young Lives vs Cancer, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to corporate social responsibility within the UK energy sector.
From £5,000 Target to £10,000 Achievement
The campaign began with an initial target of £5,000, but strong engagement from the team quickly accelerated fundraising momentum, ultimately doubling the goal. This charity fundraising energy sector campaign became one of the most engaged initiatives in Astute’s history, with staff across every team getting involved.
Founder and CEO Terry Buckel commented that the team was “delighted to support the vital work of Young Lives vs Cancer,” highlighting the personal connection many employees feel toward the cause.
Endurance Events Driving Impact
To achieve the target, the Astute team participated in a series of endurance challenges, including the 50km South West Ultra Challenge, the Great South Run, and a climb of Mont Buet in France.
These events reflect the organisation’s culture of teamwork, resilience and commitment beyond the workplace, with consultants from across our power, renewables and nuclear teams taking part alongside operational staff.
Supporting Families Across the UK
Young Lives vs Cancer provides essential emotional, practical and financial support to children and young people diagnosed with cancer, as well as their families. The charity operates across key treatment centres, including Southampton Hospital, supporting hundreds of families annually.
Senior Fundraising Engagement Manager Liz Blunt praised the fundraising efforts, noting the significant impact donations have on services such as accommodation at Jean’s House, a “home from home” for families during treatment.
Why Charity Fundraising Matters in the Energy Sector
This initiative forms part of Astute’s wider CSR strategy, demonstrating how organisations within the energy recruitment sector can contribute meaningfully to social causes while strengthening internal culture and external reputation.
Such activity also supports employer branding in a competitive technical recruitment market spanning nuclear, renewables and power generation sectors.
