Astute's Renewables team is partnered with an established and expanding business that owns and runs a portfolio of anaerobic digestion plants, to recruit a Maintenance Engineer for their site in Exeter.

Responsibilities and duties of the Maintenance Engineer role
Reporting to the Regional Plant Manager, you will:
- Be responsible for all operational equipment and machinery, including but not limited to front-end processing, pumping technology, digester and ancillary equipment, heating circuit and pasteurisation processes
- Follow, maintain and improve FIIX for all PPMs, inputting and detailing any repairs or services on machinery to enhance the maintenance regime against each piece of equipment
- Review and/or provide thorough method statements, risk assessments and permits to work for non-routine maintenance tasks
- Build and improve on a thorough planned preventative maintenance programme
- Support across three sites within the portfolio as and when needed
- Provide basic training, support and mentoring for site operatives
- Deliver planned improvements and refurbishments as part of the planned maintenance programme
- Ensure control measures and safe systems of work (SSW) are in place when undertaking any maintenance task
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure safe, tidy work areas
- Undertake any training requirements identified by your line manager to support you in your role
- Be part of an on-call rota
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- A recognised engineering qualification or demonstrable experience
- IOSH is desired
- Compex and ATEX is desired
- Telehandler licence or experience
- A full UK driving licence is essential
Personal skills
The Maintenance Engineer role would suit someone who has:
- Experience working in anaerobic digestion or a similar heavy processing environment, such as water treatment or food manufacturing
- Practical environmental and health & safety knowledge
- Electrical competence
- Computer literacy
- Essential mechanical, hands-on engineering experience
- Working knowledge of substrate pumps
- Confined space training
- Experience using and fixing pumps, valves, screw conveyors, gearbox drive units, heating circuits, macerators, hammermills and mixers
