About the role.

Astute People has exclusively partnered with a power plant developer, owner & operator who is building a fleet of biomass power plants across North Carolina.

We’re keen to speak with experienced Master / Lead Mechanics who have experience in power generation, industrial or heavy engineering environments. This is a chance to work across multiple assets, helping guide them through commissioning into operation.  

Responsibilities & duties.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for…

• Leading a team of Mechanics, performing pre-planned and preventative maintenance on a wide variety of mechanical equipment and systems (boilers, turbines, condensers, heat exchangers & pressure vessels)
• Working with the operations team to ensure that the plant is working correctly and safe for isolation when needed.
• Replacing bearings, pumps, valves, seals and auxiliary equipment.
• Preforming breakdown and shutdown maintenance, and overhauls to ensure plant availability.
• Working on long term engineering solutions to plant issues.

Professional skills and experience.

• Experience running & managing a small team of Mechanics / Maintenance Team.
• Experience gained conducting maintenance, repairs and inspections of pumps, turbines, boilers and auxiliary systems.
• Experience gained in a power generation setting or a heavy engineering setting with transferable equipment. Ex-Navy veterans with ship propulsion experience would be suitable.
