Trainee Field Technician

Astute is exclusively partnering with one of the leaders in industrial cleaning and shockwave solutions within the Power Generation sector to recruit a Trainee Field Technician/Blasting Operative to join their growing team in Portsmouth.

The Trainee Field Technician role comes with a starting salary of £32,100, with an expected OTE of £42,000. This role is based out of the main offices in Portsmouth, however it will require extensive travel and staying away throughout the UK 5-6 days a week.

Responsibilities and duties of the Trainee Field Technician role

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

• Joining a team of Blasting Operatives and Engineers working across the UK's power generation sector, providing key industrial cleaning and shockwave solutions within a number of power stations and Energy from Waste centres throughout the UK
• Using key cleaning technologies to improve the efficiency of power stations and process facilities, through controlled detonative charges used in a power station boiler to dislodge corrosive build-up on pipework
• The safe and efficient transport and usage of explosives, working in a close team to deliver a timely and responsive cleaning service across the UK, with a sizeable amount of travel that can include weekends

Professional qualifications & personal attributes

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Experience of working in a "hands-on" position previously, ideally within a hazardous or industrial environment, would be desirable although not necessary
• A full, clean UK driving licence is essential
• An understanding of mechanical maintenance, ideally with some form of qualification
• A flexible approach to working, and happy to stay away from home 5-6 days per week
• A proactive, can-do attitude
• Happy to travel across the UK
